Over the past 15 years I have researched, to my personal limit, in numerous various sources, such as libraries, courthouses, historical societies, and such, to locate as many as possible, of the remaining old one room schoolhouses left in Morrow, Richland County, and other counties in Ohio. I have also driven hundreds of miles around almost every road in the county to search for visible remains. This has taken hundreds of man hours to obtain this information, and I have definitely tried to assure all information is accurate as possible. I am always open to viewers who can add information to this photoblog. This is a critical historic venue which can help educators and historical societies to preserve the one room schoolhouse era in not only our county, but in our state as well. THERE ARE 10 OF THE OLD ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSES ON THIS SITE. ORIGINALLY THERE WERE AROUND 200 OF THESE SCHOOLS IN THESE TWO COUNTIES DURING THE ERA OF THEIR PRIMARY USAGE FROM THE 1860s-1930s.
TO MAKE SURE IT TRULY WAS A ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE AT ONE TIME IN THE PAST, BEFORE ANY OF THE SCHOOLS WERE PLACED ON THIS SITE, I VERIFIED THE ACCURACY OF THE LOCATION THROUGH A DUPLICATE VERIFICATION PROCESS. ALSO, EVERY HOUSE THAT IS POSTED ON THIS SITE IS COMPRISED OF THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE ORIGINAL SCHOOL,WHICH IS ALSO PERSONALLY VERIFIED. ALTHOUGH SOME HAVE HAD SIDING ADDED, OR OTHER MODIFICATIONS, THEY HAVE KEPT THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE UNDERNEATH OF IT. EVERYTHING THAT IS POSTED IS TRULY WHAT CONSISTS OF ALMOST ALL OF THE ORIGINAL SCHOOL HOUSE.
I seek to add more information and photographs to this blog, so, please anyone that either knows of more information or has photographs that I can copy, I would sincerely appreciate any additional input.
